ACO CVLR Track Drain

Drainage For Very Light Rail Systems

ACO’s new CVLR Track Drain channel was developed in partnership with Coventry City Council, to work in harmony with their innovative Very Light Rail system. This drainage channel effectively drains the surface and under rail of 41GPU tracks.

The CVLR Track Drain features a large drainage area which encapsulates the drainage slot from under the rails. The unit features a central 110mm outlet pipe. The units do not require mechanical fasteners or drilling of the rail resulting in hours saved during construction compared to ductile iron boxes. Units are constructed in 10mm stainless steel and the product has been structurally tested to static loads of up to 600kN achieved by the internal arched supports.

Benefits and Application
  • Robust stainless steel design, using 10mm wall thicknesses
  • Faster installation, with no mechanical fasteners or drilling of the rail, compatible with 41GPU rails
  • Accessible bolted grates
  • Easy maintenance and inspection
  • Tested and certified E 600 Load Class according to BS EN 1433
  • 110mm outlet pipe connection
Case Study

Coventry

In this case study, discover how ACO worked in partnership with Coventry City Council to support the Coventry Very Light Rail programme, tackling the challenge of managing both surface water and under-rail drainage along 41GPU tracks. It explores the site requirements, the installation approach, and how the final drainage solution helped simplify construction and make long-term inspection and maintenance more straightforward, while meeting the demands of a live rail environment.
